South London Jobs Fair 2012- Action to Work
The 'South London Jobs Fair 2012- Action to Work' is an innovative model for a Jobs Fair created to meet the enormous challenges facing individuals and businesses in our current economic climate. This initiative culminates in a dynamic event taking place on Thursday 21st June 2012 at Croydon's Fairfield Halls and brings together some of the countries biggest employers and local businesses looking to supply to the housing sector and employment opportunities for hundreds of eager jobseekers all under one roof. This exciting event, in this new form involving the procurement departments of our 12 housing association partners, is the result of a collaborative initiative between 3D Change (CIC) and 12 Housing Associations based in and around South and South East London.
Affinity Sutton, Amicus Horizon, Croydon Churches Housing Association, Hexagon Housing, London & Quadrant, Wandle, Viridian, Family Mosaic, Hyde Housing, Orbit South, Riverside Housing Associations and Croydon Council Housing Department have all seen the benefits and potential of the event to forge new business and employment opportunities in the Housing Sector.
How? Because this year's event provides businesses looking to supply to the Housing Sector, or existing suppliers with unique opportunities to meet the procurement representatives of our partner housing associations.
Suppliers joining this initiative will be able to raise the profile of their companies, their products and services, network with other businesses for supply chain opportunities while being able to learn about each of our partner housing associations procurement processes and much more. Suppliers getting involved with this initiative will also strengthen their Pre-Qualification Questionnaires by evidencing their responses to social value and regeneration.
Businesses will be able to recruit residents looking for work or lend a helping hand to those looking to expand their skills and/or experience through providing a range of employment related initiatives such as apprenticeships, shadowing and work experience opportunities, in house training and development, short term contracts, mentoring, taster sessions, volunteering or any other useful experience.
The potential business and employment opportunities echo all the objectives of the government's Big Society's drive to boost economic development, sustainable employment and community growth through creative and collaborative partnerships.
