Progression of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)
In December 1996 the DDA Parts 2 & 3 came into force making it unlawful for:
- All employers with 20 or more employees to discriminate against disabled employees (DDA Part 2). This covers disability related discrimination and a failure to make reasonable adjustments
- All service providers to treat disabled people less favourably for reasons relating to their disability (DDA Part 3)
